Hold on to Faith

When dragonflies lose a wing, they won’t surrender but hold on to faith and keep flying.

Commentary

Dragonflies are creatures that treasure their lives. They never give up and do everything with determination. One very special thing about dragonflies is that when they lose a wing, they won’t surrender but hold on to faith and keep flying. Their faith reminds me of Nick Vujicic. Do you know who he is? Vujicic is a disabled preacher who was born with no arms and legs. In spite of his disability, Vujicic believed that it wasn’t an obstacle to stop him from learning how to swim, play football and feed himself. As a result, his life is better than anyone would expect. The faith that he holds makes his life just as meaningful as anyone else’s. This teaches me that if we have faith and hold on to it dearly, it can help us overcome the ups and downs. With faith, nothing is impossible.

Sunshine will come again, have faith!

After the rain, there is sun; just like, after failure, faith brings us hope and we finally succeed.

Commentary

“The journey ahead will not be easy,” as Hillary Clinton once said. Some will say we can’t do it, that it’s too hard, we’re just not up to the task. But for as long as human beings have existed, it has been our way to reject can’t-do claims and to choose trying our best to achieve our goals. It is this belief, this optimism and this faith shared among people that have inspired many people who have experienced failure. So we can stand together and say, “Yes, we can!” Sometimes we fail, we cannot shatter that highest, hardest glass ceiling; however, from that failure, it can fill us with faith. If we have faith and try again, we can overcome the failure. Finally, we will come to success. Faith is the thing we need when aiming for success. Every failure makes next time a little easier, giving us faith and hope, so we will arrive at the destination of success at last.

Commentary

What is faith? Faith is a kind of trust; a trust in something, somebody or yourself. I think we all believe in a certain thing. Some people trust God, the Buddha or even things like the sun, but they all have their faith. The two men in the photo is an example. They all trust that they will win. Even if one fails to win the game, he can still have faith that he will win some day. Everyone has faith. It is impossible for anyone to not have faith. Faith is the foundation of the human spirit. Without faith, it is difficult to have a sense of purpose to live in this world.

Budding Faith

A plant with little water and sunlight can still struggle to live in this tough environment.

Commentary

This is a plant which looks like an asparagus. It is the only plant that I saw in this area. Little water is needed for it to grow. However, it can still survive because it will fight to live. It stretches its roots to get food and water. It is eaten especially in the poor countries. People find it growing in many places and this becomes their food. As a human being, I should use these resources in the world but I should not overuse or waste it. Although the plant does not have enough food and water, it still survives in the world. I believe that I should be like this plant. I should not complain. I should have faith in myself. I should not give up, but I should try. I should work hard to be successful in everything I do.

Here is an automatic teller machine of HSBC as the background of the photo. In this photo, I frown, make the edges of my mouth up-side down and scratch my head because I am facing difficulties. I am worried about saving money in the bank and may not get it back in the future. Are the banks trustworthy?

Commentary

A series of financial crisis were caused by the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.. A large number of people were affected globally and even lost all their money. The people who suffered from the affair of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. blame the government and the banks in their handling of the problem. The sufferers complained that the wrong information was given by the banks’ staff. These staff convinced them to invest their money in investment products with very low risk. However, it is not true. That kind of investment products consist of the high risk shares of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. They did not know the risk level and lost their money because of the wrong information. They think that they have the right to know what has happened. There are twenty-one banks in Hong Kong which are involved in these high risk investments. As a result, the public are losing confidence in the banking sector. The banks’ image was damaged totally. No one trusts them anymore. In order to protect the interests of the public, the government should supervise the banks closely to make sure that their work is done properly. The banks should guide their staff in providing the correct product information in a professional manner, and should do their best to rebuild the public’s confidence. The world will be a better place if everybody has a good faith with a positive manner. Everyone should follow the code of ethics.
